I just worship family tree walls. They are a fun yet elegant way to decorate your walls and add a unique character to your interior. There is no "right way" to create a family tree wall. Creating one is the perfect way to make a personal exhibition at home. Your friends will love it! A lot of us are curious to know where we "come" from. Sometimes it is not enough to just know the names and birth dates of your parents and grandparents. Families consist of various relations that include cousins, aunts and uncles.

A home is not complete until the walls are filled with wall frames containing portraits, pictures, unique moments, art work, paintings, drawings and treasures collected over time. A great wall arrangement can be a true eye-catching structure. Some of your photos are just so great that you want to see them everyday, not just when you look at the scrapbooks, than it's time to hang them on your walls and create a tree!

Looking at examples of family trees is a good way of getting an idea of where you need to start with your family tree creation project and also focuses your ideas on what you will want the end product to look like. There are endless possibilities that you can make.

Everyone putting together a family tree is faced with certain choices. Who to include in the family tree? How am I going to build my family tree? These are all important questions that will determine the type of family tree you decide to build. Find out which family tree charts to use for your family tree chart project.

Now the tree is going to be the biggest creative task. What style of tree are you going to use? Is it going to be in colour, or blackened out like a silhouette? Does the tree have a special connection to your family like the old farm tree that great grandma and great granddad use to have at their property many years ago.

Maybe your heart is into creating a family tree but, the task might be overwhelming for you. Maybe the only family trees you have seen look so complicated that they are hard to understand let alone create one.

You can use a large variety of wall frames for the photographs: that are the same shape and size, you can mix in objects, use mirrors and lights, mix paintings and photography, black-and-white and colour or you can be eclectic and use a variety of sizes and shapes and combine high and low pieces or you can use any combination that stimulates your imagination.

Here is a great method that can help you create a professional family tree arrangement:

The most important thing to remember when creating your gallery wall is that there is not a specific method for displaying wall frames. You just have to enjoy the unique and creative process and your gallery wall will be a success!

Choose some simple wall frames that highlight the art. Do these fall off the tree branches like leaves floating......or are they placed straight and blocked in.

Think about the placement of each piece.

Play with a few layouts until you identify the best one for your gallery wall - start with the biggest pieces first and then work around them if you are mixing sizes

Mix in drawings with photos and paintings - the more eclectic, the more you'll get a 'salon' sense

Remember- be creative. Get the whole family involved in the decision making and creative process, and that way you will really enjoy the entire activity!
